I fell down the stairs on my way to do dishes, so instead I'm going to blog.
The past month has been full of adjustments.
The house has be great to us, though a few small surprises have cropped up. We had a leaky pipe in the downstairs bathroom, which led to discovering that where there should be copper piping there is plastic. Luckily one of the firefighters is handy in the plumbing department and is giving us a hand. Then our freezer decided that it was grumpy and started to scream relentlessly at us the other night. So today we bought a new one that was on sale and we get to plug it in tomorrow morning once it's settle from being jostled when we brought it home. It's also very shiny (which is very important!)!
We're still settling in and trying to organize all our stuff, but we don't have much in the way of storage receptacles so a lot of stuff gets dumped on the kitchen table where we ignore it. The only rooms that are more or less done are the living room and the bedroom.
Then I started a new job at the local newspaper. Things are going really well, though it's a little annoying that the house work has been getting pushed aside as a result. Brandon and I try to keep up with a few things, but mostly when we get home we just want dinner and a couch. Luckily with the sun staying in the sky longer and longer we're started to perk up from the winter funk we've been in.
I've also been quite the hermit...for the past two months. Michelle is in Australia until around the end of March, and since she's the only girl friend I have in Tumbler I'm pretty lost without her. Brandon's great company, but sometime you just need female company to talk about the things the men folk just don't want to hear about. She also likes a lot of the same nerdy stuff I like(and that Brandon is ambivalent about) and it's nice to have someone around who gets why I'm excited about a certain movie/game/etc.
BTW, I did actually fall down the stairs and feeling bad for myself decided that the dishes could wait.

Walking on Snow!
Brandon and I, while in Grande Prairie last Saturday, bought snow shoes! It’s something we’ve been interested in taking up all winter, but only just invested in. Since the nearest ski hill is 2 hours away in good conditions, our snowboards have been collecting dust for the last couple of winters. Snow shoes seemed like the perfect remedy. And are they ever!!
We’ve only gone twice. The first time was on Sunday. We went to the golf course since we knew it wouldn’t be challenging, and there’s plenty of open space for us to figure it out. We spent an hour getting into the groove and found that we both enjoy it immensely. The only downside was that we forgot to bring the camera(all the pictures you see are from today’s outing).
Unfortunately, we have had a severe lack of snowing. I don’t think it’s snowed at all for the past month and a half. At the most we find areas that are a couple of inches deep, but mostly it’s all hard and icy. Not the nicest conditions, but at least the sky has been clear and sunny!
All the same, we’ve gotten a couple of great workouts into the last couple of days and despite being a little sore, have no intention of giving it a break. It’s not often that we’re this excited about exercising, in fact hiking used to be one of the very few things that we looked forward to. So it makes perfect sense that hiking on snow makes has us just as excited.
The editor at my new job used to be a tourism boss man of sorts, and he also happens to snow shoe. Before I left work today he mentioned that if we aren’t sure where to go, we should try some of the local creek beds. It turned out to be a great idea! Of course areas such as the one pictured above tend to freak me out a bit…unlike Brandon who gets close enough to take these kinds of pictures. All the same, we’re going to try going up the same creek tomorrow, but in the opposite direction.
Other than spending time outside, we cleaned downstairs, got a Costco membership, and watched Thor and Iron Man(so excited for the Avengers movie!!). While it’s not super cold outside, it still gets dark sooner than we’d like and as such wind up ready for bed around 8pm every night. As thrilled as we are with our new hobby, we’re very much ready for spring and being able to spend time in our new yard.

Newspapers Are Neat
I’m currently at home for my lunch break and thought I’d try to get a blog post in.
I’m on the last day of my first week of being the receptionist at Tumbler Ridge News. My first 2 days were pretty nerve wracking, but I got into the groove of things pretty quickly after that. Now I’m more or less comfortable, though I still ask a tonne of questions and know I have quite a bit to learn, especially since a newspaper setting is 100% new to me. It’s exciting though!! Today(Friday) is the deadline to get the layout for the paper finalized, and since the printer was down the last couple of days(we got it to work this morning!) things are pretty crazy, though I’m told it’s very much the norm. It’s nice to be out of the house, working in a fast paced office where there’s always something new and interesting to be heard.
Verdict: An awesome job that I’m incredibly glad I held out for(to think…I was close to caving in an applying at the grocery store >.<).

I FINALLY got a job!
I am now the receptionist at Tumbler Ridge News. I had my interview on Saturday where I was offered the job and told I could start Monday. It’s Monday. I’m a bundle of nerves right now. While I set the alarm for 6:30, I was up at 5:50. I would have been up earlier, but I figured I’d best sleep past 5:30 at the very least (success!!). Now I’m killing time on the internet and trying really hard NOT to play Star Wars. It’s REALLY hard not to…. it’s a great game.
Nerves aside, I’m thrilled at the prospect of working again. While I love being a housewife, I never talk to people when I’m at home, which makes me very sad and weepy. Turns out it’s good for ones health to talk to people.
And that’s really all that I’m thinking right now. Job. Star Wars. Talking to People. I’m pretty uninteresting this early in the morning ^_^

Our View
Roxy didn't place a certain photo in her blog, so I will do it for her.
Look!
This is the view from our bedroom. I'm not talking about the yard, or the field, or the school. I'm talking about the mountain! It looks very nice with the sun shining on it, and its also quite the trek to climb. Once the snow melts, we will be doing lots of hiking :)
Anyways, Enjoy!

New Home Update
It’s been a while. Between moving into the new house and playing far too much Star Wars: The Old Republic I’ve been very well occupied.
In house news, we finished painting our bedroom!
All the rooms of the house are painted a similar off-white-ish grey colour, with the exception of the upstairs bathroom and one wall in the kitchen. It’s not a bad colour, and in fact makes the house look clean and well maintained. We just wanted a little more p-zazz for the bedroom.
The living room is exactly as you see pictures…except that the computer is now in the newly made office upstairs. The room is definitely not in it’s final configuration, but for now it’s super cozy and great. The afternoon sun is wonderful! Just one of the many perks to having a south facing main windown :)
The kitchen is still a bit of a mess. As are most of the other rooms. But since we’ve been here less than a month, I’d say we’re making great progress. We have a list of things we want to do and I can’t wait until we can start crossing things off. We were lucky enough to get a house that needs no major repairs. The things we want to do are mostly cosmetic and small fixes.
