Our Time in New Westminster.

Brandon and I went on a “vacation” a little over a week ago. B-man had an EMR course at the Justice Institute in New Westminster, so we drove down and stayed with my friend’s Ashley and Callan for 12 nights.

The drive down began rather chilly-ly. Snow still on the ground and frozen over lakes. Luckily the cache we were hunting down in the area in the above picture was high up and under cover. Digging through snow is never fun and we were happy to be able to avoid it.

Brandon wanted to visit the above bridge on our way down, but I was tired and cranky so we saved it for the trip back home. I’m glad we did, since on the way down it was cloudy and cold, while on the way up it was warm and sunny.

There were a couple of caches around, but our gps device ran out of battery juice so we were only able to find one.

During one of Brandon’s off days from school we headed over to Burnaby Lake. Some crazy person placed over 50 caches around the lake and had we the time (and me the energy) we would have loved to get them all…but we only wound up with around 25. Still, for one area that’s a darn good number to get in a short amount of time.

Geese were relaxing all over the place, but these were the only ducklings we saw. Mama Goose was very protective and hissed quick a lot at us before leading the babies away.

On top of school we managed to do quite a lot. At IKEA we bought a much needed coffee table, entertainment unit, and DVD shelf, as well as a few knickknacks which we (read I) couldn’t resist. Then we went to a specialty board game store to buy Ticket to Ride. Probably my favorite trip was to metrotown where I was able to buy some lulu lemon sports bras(tata tamer FTW!), then to sports check to buy some running capris. Brandon was pretty thrilled to find a very nice Canucks ball cap and a jersey. We also go to see a free movie. We each have scene cards which accumulate points when we use our scene scotia debit card, and we had enough points for us each to get in for free to see Priest in the new fancy theatre with reclining seats!

We also went and had dinner with Nich, Teresa, and the kids. It was crazy to see how big they’re getting. We played some connect 4 (not connect 5) with Eva, and Ticket to Ride with Nich. It was a short visit, but well worth every second.

A couple of things we didn’t end up doing were going to Stanley Park to run the sea wall and buying some AMAZING espresso at the cafe I used to work at. Small things to miss out on and we were happy just running around New West and it’s very pretty parks.

It was a great way to spend so much time in the city and to visit with Ashley and Callan.

Now that we’re home, we’re thrilled to have our own bed and to be able to walk around in our underwear ^_^

Also, to those of you with Netflix. Watch Better Off Ted. It’s pretty great!
