Invitation a Go!

Yesterday night, invitation making finally got underway. Teresa(Brandon's sister-in-law) came over to help me out. Despite a stack of crafts supplies that I own, getting started was a bit of a pain. Finally our creative juices started flowing and magic happened^_^ Teresa rocked out by bringing some great tools, including a paper slicer and a flower shaped hole puncher. Saved us both a lot of time and a few...well, a lot of botched print jobs. Yay for damage control! In the end we had two different styles. One was a pre-made kit, that was prettified with ribbon, the other was completely from scratch with three colours of card stock, and fabric from my collection. Armed with glue, slicer, fabric cutter, and various other equipment, a good time was had^_^ Both look really great and I can't wait to start sending them out!

I'm not sure why..but today I was thinking about high school... and detention. I never got in trouble...and as such never really had an idea of what detention was like. The thought of having to stay late after school was horrifying, not to mention how my parent's would react. But I did get detention. Once. And only because I was late for class a few times in a row. I never told my parents. I just said that I was staying late to work on an art project. It wasn't all that bad. I just sat there. But to this day I hate when I can't be at least 10 minutes early.

And the teacher I got detention from, Mr. Fass. He was one of my favorite teachers and I had him as a teacher every year of high school. Even though I didn't take grade 12 math, I wound up as his TA.

A bit of a kill-joy...but hearts and butterflies to come.

So I'm working on a post about my latest awesome weekend...Just trying to make it a bit more understandable. Too many "SQUEEEE"s and smiley faces aren't exactly the best way to accurately describe it all.

Otherwise I'm in immense pain. It sucks because I always am, and I always complain about it. I'd love to go a day without complaining...but I'd like to think I'm justified. Worse today is that I can now add cramps to the list of things that hurt. Just peachy.

As much as I really want to get back to working, I have to wonder if that's really the best idea. While the extra income would be fantastic, my health doesn't seem to agree.

An option I have is one that I'm very hesitant to visit. It involves owed child support. It's something I should have pursued a very long time ago, but the last time I spoke to my biological father things went downhill fast. Either he just didn't understand why I was upset, or he did understand but thought that I should just forgive him without any kind of effort on his part to make amends.

Guess there has to be some degree of bad to balance the good.....

After a well rounded dinner last night, I'm now filling us up on carbs. Whole-wheat pancakes and fried potatoes....

I can make nom-awesomness!!

Due to our lazyness and not wanting to go to the grocery store when we can rock out at home, our fridge and overall food stock has started to lack...everything. Our veggies have dwindled down to kale, 1 ugly red pepper, tonnes of onions(bulk bag), and tentacle-y potatoes(which I won't touch because they freak me out). On the freezer end of things there's ground meat. I have to say...I'm getting sick of ground meat. Mostly because I have no idea what to do with it half the time. I hate making pasta, and meatballs are boring when I have nothing to jazz them up with.

Luckily, thanks to the wonders of the internet, I remembered a recipe I had found on how to make galettes. They're kind of an old school pie thing without a pie dish. This turned out to be the best dinner I've made all month!! The dough was super easy.

1 1/4 Cups. Flour
1 tsp Salt
1/2 Cup of butter
1/8 Cup of ice cold water (i just ran the tap cold for a few seconds :P)

And the stuffing I used smelled sooo good! Best of all I got to use kale for the first time ever!! It consisted of ground chicken, onion, red pepper, kale, salt, pepper, cumin, taco seasoning, home dried basil, garlic, and cheese!! I then top it off with more cheese before baking ^_^

(I don't know the exact measurements. I just throw stuff in.)

Despite looking very small, once you cut into them and start nomming you quickly realize that you might not be able to finish. I made two(one each between Brandon and me). While he ate all of his(burning mouth included...my boy was very hungry), I only managed half of mine. Which is all well and good since now I get to have the left overs for lunch^_^
